Terms & Conditions

Please read these terms carefully before engaging Tetris Homes for your renovation project. By requesting a consultation or proceeding with our services, you agree to the terms outlined below.

1. Overview

These Terms and Conditions govern the provision of renovation and building services by Tetris Homes (ABN: 12 345 678 901), a registered building practitioner operating in Melbourne, Victoria. By requesting a Renovation Planning Consult, accepting a written quotation, or entering into a building contract with us, you agree to be bound by these terms.

We recommend you read these terms in full and seek independent legal advice if anything is unclear. These terms do not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law or the Domestic Building Contracts Act 1995 (Vic).

2. Quotes & Pricing

All prices quoted are in Australian Dollars (AUD) and include GST unless otherwise stated. Quotations are valid for 30 days from the date of issue, after which they may be subject to review.

Initial indicative budgets provided during a Renovation Planning Consult are estimates only, based on the information available at the time. Final fixed-price quotations require a detailed site assessment, design confirmation, engineering review (where applicable), and material selection.

Our fixed-price quotations cover the scope of works as described in the contract and associated specifications. Items not explicitly included are excluded unless agreed in writing.

3. Payments & Deposits

A deposit may be required to secure your project start date and commence preliminary works (e.g., design, engineering, permit applications). The deposit amount and payment schedule will be clearly outlined in your building contract.

Progress payments are typically staged according to milestones defined in the contract (e.g., slab, frame, lock-up, practical completion). Each progress claim must be paid within 7 days of invoice unless otherwise agreed in writing.

The final payment (retention) is payable upon practical completion, subject to the resolution of any outstanding defects identified during the defects liability period.

4. Variations & Delays

Any changes to the agreed scope of works (variations) must be requested in writing and will be quoted before proceeding. We will not proceed with variations exceeding $1,500 (incl. GST) without your written approval.

Project timelines are estimates based on normal working conditions, availability of materials, and timely receipt of necessary approvals. Delays caused by factors outside our reasonable control — including but not limited to council approval delays, supply chain disruptions, inclement weather, or changes requested by you — may extend the completion date without penalty to Tetris Homes.

We will communicate any anticipated delays as soon as practicable and provide revised timelines where appropriate.

5. Warranty & Defects

Tetris Homes provides a 10-year structural workmanship warranty on all renovation work, in addition to any manufacturer warranties on materials and fixtures installed.

A defects liability period of 3 months applies from the date of practical completion. During this period, we will rectify any defects in workmanship or materials at no additional cost, provided the defect is not caused by misuse, neglect, or unauthorised alterations by you or third parties.

Warranty claims after the defects liability period must be submitted in writing and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis in accordance with the Domestic Building Contracts Act 1995 (Vic) and applicable Australian standards.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tetris Homes' liability for any claim arising from our services is limited to the value of the contract price for the works directly related to the claim.

We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or economic loss, including but not limited to loss of rental income, temporary accommodation costs, or loss of use, except where such liability cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or the Domestic Building Contracts Act 1995 (Vic).

All work is carried out in accordance with the Building Act 1993 (Vic), the Domestic Building Contracts Act 1995 (Vic), and relevant Australian standards. We maintain appropriate public liability and builder's warranty insurance as required by Victorian law.

7. Privacy & Data

Any personal information collected during the consultation and project process is handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and applicable Victorian privacy laws.

We collect only the information necessary to assess your project, prepare quotations, communicate with you, and fulfil our contractual obligations. We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

By providing your contact details, you consent to receiving communications from Tetris Homes regarding your project, including phone calls, emails, and SMS updates. You may opt out of marketing communications at any time.

8. General

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Any disputes arising from these terms or our services will first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If unresolved, disputes may be referred to mediation or determined by the courts of Victoria.

If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

We may update these terms from time to time. The terms in force at the date of your contract or quotation acceptance will apply to your project.
